The cut runs top to bottom. Every shot is a row with the line spoken in it, and the orange line is the playhead. Everything you do by hand here runs on your machine and never spends a credit.
Shots are rows, read top to bottom like a script. Scroll to move through the film; the preview follows the orange line.
Cut the shot under the line in two.
Trim the shot under the line so it starts or ends exactly at the playhead. The rest of the film closes up behind it.
Remove the selected shot and close the gap. Shift+Delete lifts out the marked range.
Drag a shot's edge to trim it. Drag the ◇ on the seam between two shots to roll the cut without changing the film's length.
Paste drops the shot at the nearest cut.
Mark a range to delete, extract or render.
Drop a note on the film. Select a marker to write in it.
Zoom is pixels per second of film. Fit shows the whole cut.
Move a whole section of the film up or down in one go.
Drag a clip from Media: the top or bottom of a shot inserts it, the middle replaces the picture and keeps the sound.
Mark a shot as approved, or tell the assistant what to change about it in plain words.
Approving is free; a change through the assistant shows its price first.
Run a shot from 25 % to 400 %. Captions, cuts and the exported timeline follow the same clock; spoken shots outside 90–110 % get a note.
Push in on a shot, move slowly across a still, or put a shot in a corner over another.
Let the next line start a moment before its picture (J-cut), or let a line finish under the next shot (L-cut).
Every other take of the same line, side by side. ⇄ swaps one in without touching the rest of the cut.
A dissolve on one cut, or on every cut at once.
Save the cut as a version before a big change, open an older one, or start over. Every edit undoes.
